EMBASSY JOINS LAUNCH OF "A LIFE IN SHADOWS: THE STORY OF WAYANG KULIT" EXHIBIT
Kuala Lumpur, 27 February 2025 – Cultural Officer Jesher Micha Carolino attended the opening of “A Life in Shadows: The Story of Wayang Kulit” on 25 February 2025 at the Museum of Asian Art, Universiti Malaya (UM).
The event was graced by UM Pro-Chancellor YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Diraja Ramli bin Ngah Talib, UM Library Executive Director YBrs. Professor Ts. Dr. Ainuddin Wahid bin Abdul Wahab, photographer and co-curator Constantine Korsovitis, and Fusion Wayang Kulit (FWK) Founder Tintoy Chuo.
Wayang Kulit, meaning “shadow skin,” is a traditional Southeast Asian shadow puppetry art that features intricately designed puppets, live music, and moral narratives. Originating from Indian influences, it is used as a medium for spiritual and cultural storytelling.
The exhibit showcases Wayang Kulit collections from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia and will run until 30 April 2025. END
