CONSUL GENERAL REYES REPRESENTS EMBASSY AT ASEAN CONFERENCE ON WOMEN ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP (ACWAL 2025)

Kuala Lumpur - 03 March 2025 - Consul General Roussel Reyes represented the Embassy at the opening ceremony of the Asean Conference On Women Academic Leadership (ACWAL 2025) on 20 February 2025 at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur.

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi) through the Academy of Higher Education Leadership, in cooperation with the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), UTM Holdings, and CITY University Malaysia. The opening ceremony featured esteemed guests which included the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, and was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Society Development, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad.

The Embassy’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote gender equality and empower women in academia.

ACWAL 2025 aims to empower women in academic leadership and serve as a platform for female leaders to share experiences and best practices in this field. This year’s theme is “Diversity, Inclusivity, and Women’s Resilience Leading Sustainability,” which allows delegates to discuss women’s role in driving innovation and fostering sustainability within higher education institutions, drawing on their unique perspectives and expertise. Participants also engaged in discussions on a variety of issues related to women's leadership in higher education. END.
