CHARGÉ D’AFFAIRES, A.I ROUSSEL REYES ATTENDS THE ASEAN UNITY DRIVE 2025 FLAG OFF CEREMONY

Kuala Lumpur, 24 March 2025 – Chargé d'affaires, a.i., Roussel R. Reyes attended the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD 2025) on 20 February 2025 at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). The event was organized by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and supported by the MITI. Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz officiated the flag-off ceremony.

The AUD 2025 aims to promote cross-border electric mobility, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, and sustainability. The flag-off ceremony marks the beginning of a 9000-kilometer journey across ASEAN, marking the debut of Proton e.MAS. Six (6) EVs and four (4) Proton X series models will be used for the journey.

The activity is part of a larger effort of the ASEAN to create a standardized EV policy that will strengthen regional efforts to achieve sustainability and clean-energy transition. In his speech, Minister Zafrul highlighted the goal of creating battery standardization and cross-border EV charging infrastructure.

The northern route will traverse Vietnam, through Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand, while the southern route will cover the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, and Singapore. Both routes end in Malaysia. The Philippine leg is expected to be held in the third (3rd) week of April 2025. END
