AMBASSADOR PONCE CALLS ON IDFR DIRECTOR GENERAL TO DISCUSS FUTURE COLLABORATION

Kuala Lumpur, 25 August 2024 – Ambassador H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce called on Dato’ Syed Mohamad Bakri Bin Syed Abdul Rahman, Director General of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), at the IDFR headquarters on 20 August 2024.
IDFR, a training and research institution under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Malaysia, is dedicated to enhancing diplomatic skills and fostering international relations through comprehensive training and capacity-building programs.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ponce and Director General Syed discussed potential collaborative opportunities, including co-organizing upcoming events. The Director General agreed to consult the MFA to explore these opportunities.
Ambassador Ponce also expressed her gratitude for the capacity-building programs provided by the IDFR through the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). Director General Syed noted the significant participation of Filipino public servants in these programs and added that many of them are from Mindanao.
In addition, the Director General conveyed that IDFR is also open to exploring partnership opportunities with the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), its counterpart under the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.
Ambassador Ponce was accompanied by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kara Denise Frayco during the call. END
