17 April 2012 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that licensed Filipino manufacturer and exporter of small arms and ammunitions Arms Corporation of the Philippines (ARMSCOR) participated in the 13th Defense & Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference on April 16 to 19 at the Putra World Center in Kuala Lumpur.
ARMSCOR exhibited its small arm weapons and ammunition, notably along with 850 other companies from 45 countries.
The exhibition also coincided with the DSA Forum 2012, participated in by officials from the Department of National Defense and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), led by AFP Inspector General, Major General Irineo Espino.
Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya visited the ARMSCOR booth on April 16, where he lauded the company for bringing Filipino craftsmanship and skill in the international market.
"We take pride in the great strides achieved by ARMSCOR in the international market. The considered growth of this and other Filipino companies in the defense industry is in line with our Government's defense self-reliance program," he said.
Representing ARMSCOR at the exhibition were Assistant Vice President for Corporate Planning & Business Development Norberto del Mundo, Senior Vice President for Corporate Planning and Business Development Gina Marie Angangco and Assistant Vice President for International Sales Amelia Cayabyab.
This year is ARMSCOR's second year to participate in the DSA, and Malaysia is considered to be one of its key markets.
ARMSCOR is the largest privately-owned arms and ammunition manufacturer in the Philippines with markets of more than 50 countries worldwide.
The company started when it incorporated Squires Bingham as a 100-percent Filipino company 70 years ago, and has started manufacturing firearms and ammunition 10 years after its incorporation. It was given an ISO 9001 certification in 1997.
