3 May 2013 – A consular team from the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur headed by Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya attended the Annual Sports Festival of Pinoy Support Group (PSG) of Penang last April 28 and conducted mobile passport and other consular and labor related services.

 

Some 500 Filipinos in Penang and far away places such as State of Kedah and the City of Taiping in Perak  attended the opening games.  

 

The event started with a parade of the 14 basketball and volleyball teams followed by a short program, with Ambassador Malaya as the Guest of Honor.  

 

In his speech, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the officers and members of PSG headed by Ms. Hermie Camba in organizing and uniting the Filipinos in Penang through sports and other activities.  

 

“Sustaining this annual sportsfest for 17 years is a big achievement.  The PSG deserves our support and admiration,” Ambassador Malaya said.    

 

The Ambassador was also apprised the Filipinos on the fast rising economy of the Philippines and other developments, and encouraged them to support Filipino companies in Malaysia such as Petron Malaysia, PLDT Malaysia Smart Pinoy, Cebu Pacific Airways, Philippine Airlines, Pancake House and many others.

 

The team rendered services to around 100 Filipinos seeking consular services, advice and assistance. A total of 46 passport renewal applications, two passport extensions, six notarials were processed and 11 labor related matters were attended to.
