17 November 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur turned over the first batch of in-kind aid, consisting of around 200 boxes of food, water, medicines, hygiene kits and clothes to LBC representatives on November 14.

Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya turned over the donations to LBC Cash Custodian Emily Venturina, witnessed by Embassy officers and staff. The donations will be shipped to Manila and given to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the LBC Foundation.

"We are moved and heartened by the huge turnout of in-kind aid provided not just by our Filipino community members, but also of our Malaysian friends and other expats who generously sent out their assistance—some of them taking their time to go to central Kuala Lumpur to drop them off here at the Embassy," Ambassador Malaya said.

A second and third batch were turned over to LBC on November 16 and 17, with several batches will be given in the next days.

Filipino community organizations, companies, international schools and groups of friends were majority of the donors.

For their part, LBC Director for Malaysia Ysrael Laude is heartened by the outpouring of response on their relief drive, because donations are also pouring in their office in Kota Raya.

They also informed those who will be bringing aid in major bulk that they could deliver their in-kind aid at their warehouse located at Subang Jaya, to save on travel time and other logistical considerations. END
