Ambassador Charles Jose delivers his inspirational message.

26 September 2017--Ambassador Charles C. Jose was the guest of honor and inspirational speaker during the coronation of the Ms. Migrant Workers and Other Filipinos Resource Center (Ms. MWORFC) held on September 24 at the Pusat Pelancongan Malaysia (Malaysia Tourism Center). 

In his speech, he congratulated the organizers, candidates and supporters of the event, and emphasized the importance of improving oneself through continuous learning.  He also praised the efforts by the MWORFC for being in the forefront of the Philippine Government’s efforts to improve the lot of overseas Filipino workers in Malaysia by teaching them new skills through the various courses it offers.

Ambassador Jose also reminded those present that they should showcase the best of the Philippines and the Filipino and that they are mini-ambassadors in their places of work and residence.

The Ms. MWORFC features muses of the different skills classes in the center, where they compete in different categories such as formal wear, Filipiniana and casual wear, as well as in talent, wit and composure.  The pageant also raises funds for the upkeep and management of the MWORFC’s Skills Training Center. 

Winning the crown this year is Gwendolyn dela Cruz, with her court composed of Gemma Cortez (first runner up), Rosalie Manzano (second runner up), Janette Cayago (third runner up) and Venly Bascogin (fourth runner up). 

Judges during the pageant were columnist Dato Kee Hua Chee, wife of former Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Puan Sri Dato Zainab Kader, Amee Philips jewelry company director Richard Latch Philips, doctor Dr. May Tan and noted interior decorator Datin Rubab Fatima Arif Siddiqui.  END
