29 September 2017—The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur reported that as part of their participation in the 14th Malaysian International Festival of Food, Drinks, Hotel & Foodservice Equipment, Supplies, Services and Related Technology or Food and Hotel Malaysia (FHM 2017), the Philippine delegation hosted a business-to-business (B2B) get together and high tea at the Topaz Room of the Mandarin Hotel on September 27.

Ambassador Charles C. Jose was the event’s guest of honor and delivered the welcome remarks.

“We are proud that the Philippines is one of the 50 country participants and one of 12 country pavilions in this year’s edition of the FHM.  This is a testament to the importance of Malaysia and the Malaysian market to the Philippines, as our team put together a strong delegation to the event,” he said.

“Knowing how much the world has embraced Filipino products, it is imperative for us to continue promoting it around the world through various means, such as participation in events such as this.  However, as is hallmark of world-renowned Filipino hospitality and warmth, we want to know our Malaysian importers and buyers so our team decided to put this event together for you to have an exclusive and intimate knowledge about the products brought in by our delegation and for them to know you more and be of assistance to your needs,” Ambassador Jose added.

The Philippine delegation, composed of representatives from Filipino companies Fruits of Life (coconut products), RM Fruitz (fresh fruits), Mira’s Nature Goodness (flavored teas), Edna and Rebecca’s Banana Chips and Coated Peanuts (banana chips and peanuts), Wellness Care International Corp (health food products), Kitchen Winery Food Ventures, Inc. (condiments), BAHI Interprises Ventures, Inc. (flavored teas), Pasciolco Agri Ventures (coconut products), Joy Table Sauce (lemongrass products) and Castillejos Agri-Farms, Inc. (fruit products) interacted with around 20 Malaysian companies representing supermarkets, hotels, distribution and importing companies.

Ambassador Jose delivers the opening remarks during the event. Representatives from around 20 Malaysian companies attended the high tea and get together.

The Malaysian representatives were given opportunities to taste the products on sample and had one-on-one time with the Philippine companies.  The representatives were impressed by the quality of the products on display and expressed interest to bring the products to Malaysian shelves.

The high-tea was organized by the Philippine Department of Agriculture and the Embassy’s Philippine Trade and Investment Center.

FHM 2017 features business-to-business engagements, a culinary exhibition and an opportunity for buyers and other visitors to see and even taste the latest products and services offered by the food, beverage and hospitality industry worldwide.  This is the second straight time that a Philippine delegation is participating in the event.  END
