6 December 2017—The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur welcomed a delegation of Filipino math whiz kids in a courtesy call on November 29 after their victorious stint at the 4th Malaysia International Mathematics Olympiad (MIMO) 2017 held on November 26-27 in Kuala Lumpur.

During the courtesy call, Ambassador Charles Jose congratulated the delegation and encouraged the kids to continue developing their expertise in math and the sciences, as these would be the skills needed for the future.  

The delegation reaped six golds, seven silvers and 11 bronze medals in the individual events, and two championships, one first runner up and two second runner up finishes in the team categories at the Olympiad.  They also bagged the third best performance in the Middle Primary Level Category.  

The MIMO 2017 attracted 1,136 students from Australia, Bulgaria, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.  The Philippine participation was supported by the Asian MathSci League, Inc. Philippines.  END
