Ambassador Jose encourages Muslim Filipinos in Malaysia to become advocates of peace in his welcome remarks.

3 July 2018 - The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur joined the Muslim Filipino community in Malaysia in celebrating Hari Raya Aidlfitri at a reception hosted by Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose held on July 1, 2018 at the Embassy grounds.

Present at the event were officers and members of the Union of Muslim Filipinos in Malaysia (UMFM) led by its president, Ustadz Jalal Ampuan, as well as Muslim students, and Embassy officers and staff.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Jose thanked the UMFM for their cooperation and support for the Embassy’s projects, and encouraged Muslim Filipinos studying in Malaysia to become advocates of peace upon their return to the Philippines.

“I encourage you to be influencers when you return to your families, friends, and communities. Share with them your experiences here in Malaysia, so that more and more Filipinos would see the other side of Islam that promotes peace, tolerance, and moderation.  Let us all be advocates of peace for the development of the Philippines,” Ambassador Jose appealed.

In his own speech, UMFM President Ustadz Ampuan extended the organization’s gratitude to the Embassy for its continued support to the Muslim Filipino community, and expressed the organization’s desire to further galvanize and unify the Muslim Filipino community in Malaysia.

The reception featured serenades and dance performances from Ms. Maria Cielo Llenos, Ms. Gladys Gulapa, Muhammad Najib Abdul Jalil, and several UMFM members.  Early dinner followed the program. END
