8 October 2018 – The Philippine Tourism Fair 2018 drew Malaysian visitors throughout its three-day run from 5 to 7 October 2018 at the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall in Selangor.
A project of the Philippine Department of Tourism in Malaysia with the support of the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the event featured live performances from Filipino bands and performers, cooking demonstrations, interactive social media contests, and on-site games to demonstrate to visitors why “it’s more fun in the Philippines.”
Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose, in his welcome remarks, said, “I am glad to note that Malaysians are taking part in this joy of exploring the Philippines.” He further observed that as of mid-2018, Malaysia continues to be one of the top ten sources of tourist arrivals in the Philippines.
Ambassador Jose also took the opportunity to announce the return of the Ambassador’s Tour in 2019.
Scheduled on 24-28 March 2019, the tour will feature “The World’s Best Island in 2017” according to Travel+Leisure magazine: Palawan.
“To those who have not been to the Philippines, this is an excellent starting point. To those who have visited but wish to return, allow the Ambassador’s Tour to whisk you off once again to one of the most beautiful places in the world,” Ambassador Jose invited the crowd of Malaysian tourists, tour operators, travel agencies, and social media celebrities. The 2019 Ambassador’s Tour will depart from Kuala Lumpur, transit in Manila, and head to Coron, a secluded paradise north of Palawan famous for its immaculate islands, shipwreck diving spots, and the most photographed scenic spot in the Philippines. Details regarding the tour will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
