Kuala Lumpur, 18 December 2021 – One hundred and thirteen (113) distressed Filipinos were able to go home to the Philippines on 18 December 2021 via Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR 8528 departing Kuala Lumpur for Manila, with assistance provided by the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila.
The repatriated overseas Filipinos (OFs) all requested assistance from the Embassy for their immediate repatriation due to financial constraints and difficulties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.. The OFs were being assisted by Post’s ATN Unit and Social Welfare Attaché.
“Many Filipinos here in Malaysia continue to be affected by the economic impact of the pandemic, even as Malaysia’s economy has been slowly opening up since the third quarter of this year,” Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles Jose shares. “The Embassy will not cease in its efforts to provide appropriate assistance to them, including in their repatriation.”
All passengers on the special repatriation flight were assisted by the Embassy in their mandatory RT-PCR test prior to departure, as well as in their applications for exit passes under the Recalibration Repatriation Program (RRP) of the Malaysian Immigration Department.
Filipinos in Malaysia who are in need of assistance from the Embassy are advised to contact the Embassy using any of the following channels:
