03 September 2018 – The ASEAN Ladies’ Circle (ALC) Philippines brought together 114 ladies from the ten member-countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in a friendly bowling tournament held on 29 August 2018 at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.

ALC President Mdm. Maria Victoria H. Jose, who also serves as Patron of ALC Philippines as the spouse of Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose, along with members of ALC Philippines, organized the bowling game to provide members with an opportunity to deepen friendships amongst the member-countries of ASEAN in an informal and enjoyable environment.

“In the spirit of good fun, camaraderie, and sportsmanship, let’s all enjoy our bowling games tonight,” Mdm. Jose encouraged the members in her opening remarks.

The ALC member-countries each fielded four to six players led by the following: Datin Mariani Bongsu, Patron of ALC Brunei Darussalam; Her Excellency Ambassador Rath Many, Patron of ALC Cambodia; Madame Iesien Rusdi Kirana, Patron of ALC Indonesia; Madame Soutchay Soukhaseum, Patron of ALC Lao PDR; Datin Seri Hafipah Mohd Shah, Patron of ALC Malaysia; Madame Sanda Hlaing, Patron of ALC Myanmar; Madame Maria Victoria H. Jose, ALC President and Patron of ALC Philippines; Madame Jayanthi Menon, Patron of ALC Singapore; Minister-Counsellor Nipa Nirannoot, Alternate Patron of ALC Thailand; and Madame Pham Thi Hong Lien, Patron of ALC Vietnam.

In the team category, ALC Philippines brought home first place, followed by Team Malaysia for second place, and Team Thailand for third place. Meanwhile, the top prize for individual player category was bagged by Ms. Nabila Luqman from Team Malaysia, followed by Ms. Shirley Burnett and Ms. Annie Caraig from Team Philippines as 2nd and 3rd highest individual scorers, respectively. While both team and individual category winners received trophies, winners of the team category also received home-baked cakes donated by ALC Philippines pastry artists Mdm. Maria Victoria H. Jose, Ms. Sheila Strollo, and Ms. Maricar Estella.

The bowling competition was followed by a dinner reception hosted by ALC Philippines at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, where the ALC members partook of dinner and shared the cake prizes with each other.
