08 April 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, conducted a Consular Outreach Mission to Sabah on 02 to 06 April 2022, its first since the COVID-19 pandemic started and travel restrictions were implemented in Malaysia in March 2020. The said mobile mission was held at the Dewan Masyarakat Tawau and Dewan Sri Tawau in Tawau, Sabah, in response to the need of Filipino nationals for various kinds of consular services.

Prior to the conduct of the mobile mission, the Embassy announced to the members of the Filipino community the implementation of an appointment system and other SOPs for the mission, in observance of the health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Embassy team processed more than 1,000 applications for passport renewal, birth registration, notarial, and travel documents. Per SOPs set by the Embassy in consultation with the Sabah authorities, applicants were required to be fully-vaccinated.

The schedules for the Embassy’s succeeding consular outreach missions, including the re-opening of its appointment system for the said missions, will be announced by the Embassy in due course. END
