14 August 2012 - The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur fostered closer relations with the City Government of Kuala Lumpur when Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia J. Eduardo Malaya paid a courtesy call on newly-appointed Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib last August 09 at the City Hall.
Mayor Datuk Ahmad warmly received Ambassador Malaya and pledged to work closely with the Embassy and the Filipino community on mutually beneficial projects, notably cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Malaya is the first foreign Ambassador to call on the Mayor after the latter assumed office as the 10th Mayor of Kuala Lumpur on July 18.
The embassy and the Kuala Lumpur City Government, through its Department of Culture and Arts of Kuala Lumpur, are making preparations for the visit and performance of the internationally acclaimed University of the Philippines Concert Chorus (UPCC) at the Panggung Bandaraya theatre on October 23.
Ambassador Malaya cited the valuable support earlier extended by the city government to the activities undertaken by the Embassy and the Filipino community, notably the first-ever Filipino community parade in Kuala Lumpur on the occasion of the 114th year Philippine Independence Day commemoration. The parade was participated by some 1,500 Filipinos and Malaysians and featured seven floats.
"As embassy personnel, we are also constituents of Kuala Lumpur, and we are grateful for your support," Ambassador Malaya stated.
