Kuala Lumpur, 20 May 2022 – International artists, members of the diplomatic corps, and friends from the Malaysian art scene gathered at the KL Jazz and Arts Center to attend the inauguration of the KL International Art Exhibition 2022 organized by Arth Art International.
Artworks of Filipino painters, Mr. Roy Espinosa, Mr. Frank Caña, and Mr. Pancho Piano, were featured in the exhibit. With the theme “New Horizon,” the multicultural art exhibit also featured other contemporary visual artists from all over the globe.
During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Charles C. Jose gave a speech on the role of cultural activities, such as the art exhibit itself, in bringing people closer. Emphasizing the importance of collaborative spaces in cultivating people-to-people exchanges, he said, “these exchanges help break down barriers and promote mutual understanding among our countries. It does not only foster the human need for self-expression, but also the appreciation of the beauty in each of our cultures.”
Ambassador Jose congratulated the Filipino artists featured in the event. He commented, “we consider our artists as our cultural representatives. They help the Embassy in its mandate and task of promoting our culture, and fostering mutual understanding among our peoples. I can say that this is cultural diplomacy in action.” The KL International Art Exhibition will run from 20 to 31 May 2022. END.
