MALAYSIAN PRIVATE SECTOR COMPANIES ENCOURAGED TO INVEST IN THE PHILIPPINES
Kuala Lumpur, 31 May 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Malaysia and its Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) encouraged Malaysian private sector companies to invest in the Philippines during the Investment Forum co-organized by the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) Philippines, Inc. in partnership with Paddy Schubert Consultants Sdn Bhd.
After more than two (2) years of holding conferences and business meetings virtually since the pandemic hit, the investment forum is the first face-to-face networking seminar with potential Malaysian investors held in Kuala Lumpur. The event featured several speakers including MCCI’s Chairman and Co-founder, Mr. Edward Ling, BDO Unibank’s First Vice President and Chief Market Strategist, Mr. Jonathan Ravelas, PTIC-KL’s Commercial Attaché Norjamin delos Reyes, and Global Satellite’s President and CEO, Mr. Philip Chien.
Chargé d’affaires, a.i., Leandro Luiz Manantan, delivered a welcome message on behalf of Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Charles C. Jose. In his speech, he highlighted the strong business and economic ties between the Philippines and Malaysia and encouraged building a deeper cooperation between the two countries in key areas of partnership and fostering investment opportunities that have yet to be explored.
Over 40 Malaysian private sector representatives in the manufacturing, technology, real estate, tourism, logistics, consumer goods, halal food, and retail, attended the event and expressed interest in doing business in the Philippines.
The forum, with the theme, “Driving Foreign Direct Investment into the Philippines post COVID-19”, aimed to promote the Philippines as an investment destination and drive more investments into the country in other possible areas of cooperation post-pandemic. END.
