PH EMBASSY TREATS FILCOM TO A VIRTUAL FIESTA IN CELEBRATION OF “KALAYAAN 2022”

Kuala Lumpur, 12 June 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Malaysia commemorated the 124th anniversary of Philippine Independence or “Kalayaan 2022” with a flag raising ceremony and a virtual fiesta with the members of the Filipino Community. 

The hybrid celebration commenced with a ceremonial hoisting of the flag with the personnel of the Embassy and its attached agencies, after which, the participants listened to the Independence Day messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr.

The participants were treated to a simple “agahan” of Filipino dishes, followed by a watch party of the “Virtual Fiesta sa Embahada 2022,” an interactive online celebration with the FilCom in Malaysia. 

The online celebration aimed to reach the widest audience possible and provide a sense of comfort and pride to fellow Filipinos in Malaysia. Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia, Charles C. Jose, delivered an Independence Day message for all the viewers. It also featured special performances from Filipino artists and a dance-along segment with members of the FilCom. 

Aside from showcasing Filipino talent through song and dance, participants enjoyed the trivia game portion of the program which gave them the opportunity to win prizes for their knowledge of Philippine history and culture.
