Kuala Lumpur, 28 November 2023 – Filipino culture and Original Pilipino Music (OPM) were featured in First City University College’s International Cultural Night last Friday, 24 November 2023, fostering cross-cultural connections and appreciation within their school community.

 

The event transcended borders and brought together an array of captivating performances, delectable cuisine, and an opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of cultures from the Philippines, India, Malaysia, Maldives, China, South Korea, Myanmar and the United States.

 

Ms. Jazmine Santos, a Filipino student currently enrolled as a freshman in the Information Technology program, was the Committee Chairperson of the event. She was adorned in a “Maria Clara” inspired Filipiniana gown - a beautifully embroidered dress that pays homage to the cultural heritage of the Philippines. She gave the opening remarks and performed the OPM song 'Tadhana' by Up Dharma Down.

 

As part of its cultural diplomacy efforts, the Philippine Embassy’s Cultural Officer, Ms. Jesher Micha Carolino, and Information Officer, Ms. Aina Camille Abrencillo, attended and supported the event. The Embassy featured Filipiniana items, native decors, and notable Philippine tourism destinations.
