4 AFP OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM SPECIAL MILITARY COURSES WITH THE MALAYSIAN ARMED FORCES 2

On 9 December 2023, four (4) officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) completed special courses with the Malaysian Armed Forces.

LTC Nympha D. Dacoco (Philippine Army), along with LCDR Jeffrey V. Guiquing (Philippine Navy) and MAJ Imel I. Andal (Philippine Air Force) attended the Malaysian Command and Staff Course (Joint) Serial 52/2023 at the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) which convened on 04 January 2023. LTC Dacoco was the only female officer who attended from overseas.
 
The Malaysian Command and Staff Course aims to prepare selected officers to assume command and staff appointments in a joint environment. It is rigorously designed with academic and military elements. The MAFSC collaborates with the National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) as the leading university in Malaysia for defense studies to provide students with fundamental academic knowledge in military studies.
 
CAPT Juan E Celebrado (Philippine Navy), on the other hand, attended the Master’s Program in Social Sciences (Defense Studies) Serial 43/2023 at the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College (MAFDC) which also convened on 04 January 2023.
 
The MAFDC course design is to strengthen Military, Economic, Political and Administrative education for high-ranking officials. MAFDC is aimed to help develop analytical skills to those involved in security issues that fit into the framework of nation building and global challenges.
 
On November 30, the 4 AFP Officers paid a courtesy call on Ambassador-designate Maria Angela A. Ponce at the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, accompanied by Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Col. Joel A. Lobitaña. END
