AMBASSADOR-DESIGNATE PONCE VISITS INSTITUTE OF STRATEGIC AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES (ISIS) MALAYSIA
28 February 2024 – Ambassador-Designate H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce paid a courtesy visit to Prof Dr Mohd Faiz Abdullah, Chairperson of Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia on 22 February 2024.
They discussed potential joint activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Philippines-Malaysia bilateral relations, including enhancing think tank cooperation and fostering cultural exchanges. Ambassador-Designate Ponce welcomed the proposed collaboration with ISIS Malaysia spanning diverse topics including geo-political, economic, cultural and people-to-people aspects of bilateral relations and promising future directions. Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kara Denise C. Frayco and Ms. Judy Anne Adan of the Embassy’s political section were also present in the meeting.
ISIS is a premier Malaysian think tank and autonomous research organization established in 1983, focusing on foreign policy, security studies, economics, nation- building, social policy, technology, innovation and environmental studies. The organization played a role in fostering closer regional integration and international cooperation through forums such as the Asia-Pacific Roundtable, ASEAN Institutes of Strategic and International Studies, Pacific Economic Cooperation Council and the Network of East Asian Think-Tanks.
