ASIAN CONSULTING GROUP INVITES MY BIZ SECTOR TO INVEST IN PH
Kuala Lumpur, 12 March 2024 – The Asian Consulting Group (ACG), in partnership with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries Philippines (MCCI), successfully conducted the Malaysia leg of the 2024 International Tax and Business Roadshow on 09 to 12 March 2024, with Philippine Ambassador-Designate Maria Angela A. Ponce delivering the keynote message at the Investment and Tax Briefing held at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 11 March 2024.
The Roadshow aims to provide stakeholders with information and expert advice on investing and doing business in the Philippines, particularly in the context of taxation, through investment and tax briefings hosted by the ACG across fifteen (15) countries in East Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Australia.
In her message, Ambassador-Designate Ponce recalled the agreement of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in the former’s State Visit to Malaysia in July 2023, to further elevate trade and investment relations between Manila and Kuala Lumpur. The strengthening of investment and trade relations is especially significant as both countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations, and with Malaysia being the Philippines’ sixth largest source of net foreign direct investments in 2023.
Ambassador-Designate Ponce further highlighted the Philippines’ initiatives in improving the business environment to attract more investors, such as enactment and amendment of relevant laws and provision of incentives, and reiterated the Philippine government’s commitment to supporting Malaysian investors and companies.
PTIC-Kuala Lumpur Commercial Counsellor Norjamin Delos Reyes likewise provided an overview of the Philippine investment landscape.
Ambassador-Designate Ponce also received Mr. Raymond Abrea, Founding Chairman and Chief Tax Advisor of the ACG, at the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. They exchanged views on investment cooperation between the Philippines and Malaysia, and tax-related concerns of foreign companies in the Philippines. END
