AMBASSADOR PONCE RECEIVES DOT DELEGATION CONDUCTING HEALTH TOURISM BENCHMARKING ACTIVITIE
Kuala Lumpur, 22 March 2024 – On 21 March 2024, H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce received officials of the Department of Tourism, headed by Dr. Paulo Benito S. Tugbang, Director of Office of Product and Market Development. The eight-member DOT delegation is currently conducting health tourism benchmarking activities in Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Dr. Tugbang highlighted the importance of further streamlining clinical policies and creating welcoming environments in promoting health tourism in the Philippines. Given the country’s breathtaking travel destinations, excellent quality of clinical care and safety, DOT targets to attract more medical tourists in the years to come.
Ambassador Ponce extended her well wishes to the delegation for a successful benchmarking activity, and expressed enthusiasm for more opportunities for growth in the Philippines’ health tourism industry. END
