PHL EMBASSY CELEBRATES NATIONAL FOOD MONTH WITH TRADITIONAL BOODLE FIGHT
Kuala Lumpur, 13 April 2024 – Philippine Embassy personnel gathered for a traditional boodle fight on 8 April 2024 in celebration of National Food Month.
A "boodle fight" is a Filipino communal feast where food is piled on top of banana leaves laid out on long tables, and participants eat with their hands. Typically practiced in the Philippine military, boodle fights symbolize camaraderie and equality.
The Embassy’s spread featured an array of Filipino dishes, including fried chicken, dinakdakan (grilled meat dressed with red onions, chilies, and vinegar), ensaladang talong (eggplant salad), sweet and sour fish, laing (taro leaves and shrimp stewed in coconut milk), and adobo (meat stewed in vinegar), over steaming piles of rice.
