AMBASSADOR PONCE AND ISLAMIC BANKING AND FINANCE INSTITUTE MALAYSIA (IBFIM) CEO YUSRY YUSOFF EXPLORE POTENTIAL AREAS FOR COLLABORATION
Kuala Lumpur, 20 April 2024 – On 04 April 2024, H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce received IBFIM Chief Executive Officer Yusry Yusoff, Training & Talent Development Director Noor Maliana Mansor, and Associate Director Nor Azmir Muhamed Sulong at the Embassy.
Ambassador Ponce acknowledged the contribution and importance of IBFIM in positioning Malaysia into one of the most sophisticated, and also the biggest Islamic finance industry in Asia.
Given the Philippines’ significant Muslim population and the growing interest of non-Muslims to diversify their financial portfolio to include Islamic banking and finance products, Ambassador Ponce and CEO Yusoff discussed opportunities for collaboration between IBFIM and the Philippines, particularly on capacity-building and talent development initiatives.
Ambassador Ponce emphasized that the Philippines is more than ready to welcome new Islamic banking and finance investors to meet the demand of consumers for diverse financing options.
In February 2023, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) received the Outstanding Industry Collaboration Award from IBFIM, in recognition of the bank’s calibrated efforts and strong commitment to enhance the competencies of BSP personnel and the Islamic Finance Coordination Forum (IFCF) members on Islamic banking and finance.
IBFIM is a learning institution specializing in technical certifications designed to enable holders to meet proficiency requirements within the Islamic finance industry. Its main programmes are developed based on IBFIM Qualifications Framework and are accorded Full Accreditation by the Finance Accreditation Agency to ensure quality and provide a progressive career path for certificate holders. It offers customizable learning modules and joint programmes with relevant professional bodies and academic institutions. END
