PHILIPPINE EMBASSY AND MWO CONDUCT OUTREACH IN PENANG

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 May 2024 – The Philippine Embassy and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Kuala Lumpur successfully conducted an outreach activity for the Filipino community at Cititel Hotel, Penang, on 5 May 2024.
 
A total of 607 services were rendered, including passport processing, birth registration, overseas absentee voting registration, contract verification, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) membership, and SSS and PagIBIG applications.
 
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Maria Angela A. Ponce highlighted the Embassy’s aim to bring services closer to Filipinos across Malaysia. She also stressed the importance of strengthening links between the Embassy and Filipino communities, especially for disasters and crises where efficient communication would help ensure the welfare of Filipinos in affected areas.
 
Ambassador Ponce further encouraged support for the Embassy’s initiatives in commemorating the 60th anniversary of Philippines-Malaysia bilateral relations in 2024.
 
The Embassy team also engaged the outreach participants in an open forum, addressing their inquiries on employment contracts and related concerns.
