KUALA LUMPUR, 10 May 2024 – Ambassador Maria Angela A. Ponce joined the Mother’s Day Celebration hosted by the Community of Overseas Filipinos in Penang (COFP), led by its President Mary Ann S. Rioflorido, in George Town, Penang, on 5 May 2024.

 

In her message, Ambassador Ponce recognized Filipino Community Associations as the Embassy’s most important partner in its continuous effort to promote and secure the welfare of Filipinos in Malaysia. She also noted the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Philippines- Malaysia bilateral relations this year, and encouraged support for the Embassy’s lineup of commemorative activities.

 

The Ambassador was joined by Director Geraldine Mendez of the Department of Migrant Workers - Migrant Workers Protection Bureau and Vice Consul Patricia Anne Laggui. The event’s highlight was the ReINA ng Tahanan 2024 pageant, which showcased the creativity, wit, and talent of the mothers among COFP’s members. Marikina City native Ms. Racquel Cabalonga won the ReINA ng Tahanan crown, besting First Runner-up Ms. Roselita Cabaddu and Second Runner-up Ms. Rodylyn Lonolono.

 

The COFP also hailed this year’s Flores De Mayo Queens, including Reyna Emperatriz Raquel Yuso; Reyna Elena Josephin Velasco; and Reyna Carridad Myrna Dela Cruz.
