11 May 2024 – The Philippine Embassy team, led by Ambassador H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce, called on the Chief Minister of Penang, Hon. Chow Kon Yeow, on 6 May 2024 at the G Hotel Gurney in Penang.

 

Highlighting the increasing Filipino diaspora in Penang, discussions emphasized the importance of fair treatment for skilled and semi-skilled Filipino workers in Penang. Additionally, there was recognition of the potential for economic collaboration, particularly in the Electrical and Electronics (E&E) and semiconductor industries, leveraging Penang's supply chain strengths and the Philippines' collaborative capacities.

 

Cultural and heritage preservation efforts were also acknowledged, with the Chief Minister reaffirming the State's dedication to conserving its architectural legacy, including past collaborations with Filipino experts.

 

Ambassador Ponce was joined by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Patricia Anne G. Laggui, Commercial Counsellor Norjamin Delos Reyes, and Labor Attaché Teresa Lourdes Pimentel. END.
