27 June 2024 - The Philippine Embassy and Migrant Workers Office - Overseas Workers Welfare Administration KL celebrated the 29th Migrant Workers Day in a day-long bazaar with members of the Filipino community at MWO-OWWA Office in Taman Maluri on 09 June 2024.

H.E. Maria Angela Ponce, together with Labor Attaché Teresa Lourdes L. Pimentel, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the celebration with this year’s theme “Bagong Bayani, Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas (New Heroes, Partners in the New Philippines).

In her speech, Ambassador Ponce underscored the importance of adhering to the priorities and directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in prioritizing the welfare and interests of Overseas Filipinos. She also thanked Labor Attaché Pimentel, Welfare Officer Rosanna Siray, and the whole team of MWO-OWWA KL for efficiently managing and conducting skills training programs for Filipino workers.

The Filipino community showcased Filipino food and other products, Filipiniana wear, and offered hairstyling and spa services at the bazaar.

Migrant Workers’ Day is celebrated every June 7 in the Philippines to commemorate the signing into law of Republic Act 8042 or the Migrant Workers Act of 1995. END
