Kuala Lumpur, 28 June 2024 - Paintings by Filipino artists Roy C. Espinosa, Irma Espinosa, and Ana Lyn Seva are featured at the International Dialogue Exchange Exhibition-Philippines & Malaysia at the YES AMJB Kuala Lumpur Museum.
The International Dialogue Exchange Exhibition - Philippines & Malaysia aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and innovative spirit of the Philippines and Malaysia, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation through the arts.
Representing H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce, Consul Leandro Luiz Manantan opened the event on 15 June 2024. In his speech, he underscored that the exhibition is meaningful as the theme of the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan” (Freedom. Future. History) resonates deeply with the essence of the event. Consul Manantan also highlighted that this exhibition embodies the freedom of artistic expression and the shared histories that shape our identities and is especially timely as both countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations this year.
The exhibition includes paintings by six artists representing both countries. Aside from the featured artists from the Philippines, participating artists from Malaysia include Suzlee Ibrahim, Allen Tan and Khalid Othman.
Mr. Espinosa’s featured artworks comprise “Embracing Boughs,” “Branching Bonds,” “Eternal Growth,” “Tranquil Landscape,” “Enchanted Grove,” and “Harmony in Branches”. Ms. Espinosa’s featured artworks are “Interconnected Harmonies 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06,” while Ms. Seva’s featured artworks include “Guazy,” “Impasto,” and “Tondo”.
Together with the Filipino artists, Mr. Wyatt Yap, Founder and CEO of YES Education Group (YES International College + ERICAN College) and Dr. Yuming Ding, Curator and Acting Dean of AMJB Museum and School of Media Art & Design (YES International College + ERICAN College), guided Consul Manantan and Vice Consul Vanessa R.
