01 July 2024 - On 21 June 2024, Ambassador Maria Angela A. Ponce, along with Vice Consul Vanessa R. Orbigo and Commercial Counsellor Norjamin Delos Reyes, had productive discussions at the Embassy with Mr. Alewijin Aidan Ong, Assistant Secretary and Assistant General Manager at National Development Company (NDC), and Ms. Sophia Fontanilla, Senior Investment Associate at Gobi-Core Philippine Fund (Gobi-Core).

The meeting underscored the takeaways of NDC and Gobi-Core from their two-day learning tour, where they visited the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Malaysian companies such as CompAsia, Petronas, Carsome Certified Lab, and Aerodyne.

The Philippine Embassy reassured NDC and Gobi-Core of its commitment to enhance the startup ecosystem in the Philippines. The parties agreed that it was crucial to learn and apply the best practices of successful startups, connect with industry experts, and partner with the government to enhance innovation in the Philippine startup sector and boost its development.
