Kuala Lumpur, 04 July 2024 - Consul General Roussel Reyes was the guest speaker at the recently concluded Ms. Unifil 2024, which was held on 30 June 2024 at Maju Junction Mall, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

In his speech, he congratulated the organizers, candidates, and supporters of the event. He noted that the pageant fosters a sense of community and unity, coinciding with the recent celebration of Independence Day on June 12, 2024, with the theme "Kalayaan.Kinabukasan.Kasaysayan." Furthermore, he recognized the observance of Migrant Workers Day on June 7, 2024 and acknowledged the contributions of Filipinos overseas, who not only work for the future of their families but also contribute to the welfare of the nation. He emphasized that this event stands as a testament to the dedication of Filipinos abroad.

Consul General Reyes also reminded the Filipino community (FILCOM) to register for Overseas Voting to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming election next year. He emphasized that the registration deadline is on 30 September 2024. He also invited the guests to follow the Embassy’s FB page for the announcement of the Community Bulletin where Filipinos can send information on their upcoming events and activities, which may then be shared on the Embassy’s social media pages.

Miss Unifil 2024 was the first pageant hosted by The United Filipino Workers in Malaysia Inc. (UNIFIL), which is led by Mr. Julius Elisan, in collaboration with different FILCOM organizations.

Miss Jovy Ann T. Bongsalo from the FILCOM Organization BIBAK Malaysia (Benguet, Ifugao, Bontoc, Apayao, Kalinga) was crowned as Ms. UNIFIL 2024.END
