AMBASSADOR PONCE IS CONFERRED GAWAD MABINI AWARD
Kuala Lumpur, 12 July 2024 - Her Excellency Maria Angela A. Ponce was conferred the 2024 Gawad Mabini, with the rank of Dakilang Kamanong (Grand Cross) by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on 05 July 2024.
The award was conferred on behalf of the President by Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo, in a ceremony commemorating the 126th Anniversary of the Founding of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Ponce was recognized for her efforts in upholding Philippine interests through negotiations and expanding the Philippines’ maritime dialogue mechanisms with key partners during her tenure as the Assistant Secretary of the Maritime and Ocean Affairs Office (MOAO) of the Department.
The Gawad Mabini, established by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 490 s. 1974, is conferred by the President on Department personnel as well as on other Filipinos who have rendered distinguished service or helped advance the interests of the Philippines abroad. The award has the following ranks, from lowest to highest: Kasugo, Dakilang Kasugo, and Dakilang Kamanong. END
