PHILIPPINE COMPETITION COMMISSION CHAIR DISCUSSES PH BEST PRACTICES ON MERGER CONTROLS AT 16TH EAST ASIA CONFERENCE ON COMPETITION LAW AND POLICY

Kuala Lumpur, 26 July 2024 – Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) Chairperson Michael G. Aguinaldo participated as a panel speaker at the 19th East Asia Top Level Officials’ Meeting (EATOP) and 16th East Asia Conference on Competition Law and Policy (EAC) from 23 to 24 July 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Chairperson Aguinaldo shared his knowledge and expertise on Merger Controls in the Philippines, including best practices, emerging issues, recent and potential changes in the Philippines, and the importance of regional cooperation in merger control.
The said annual meeting and conference gathered competition authorities, business leaders, and academics across East Asia and Southeast Asia to foster a deeper understanding of competition policies and laws, with an emphasis on striking a balance between promoting competition while enhancing economic stability.
The events were organized by the Malaysia Competition Commission, Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), and the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC).
Minister and Consul General Roussel R. Reyes, Vice Consul Vanessa R. Orbigo, and Economic Attaché Hannah Patricia S. De Castro represented the Embassy at the EAC. END
