Kuala Lumpur, 17 August 2024 –. The Philippine Embassy, along with the Human Resource Management Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), hosted the Regional Training on Gender and Development Planning and Budgeting for the Asia and the Pacific Region on 13-15 August 2024 at the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur.

 

The training brought together 29 dedicated members of the GAD Focal Point System-Working Group, also known as GADvocates, from the various Philippine Foreign Service Posts (FSPs) in the Asia and Pacific Region.

 

The three-day training provided a platform for GAD Focal Point Officers to enhance their skills and knowledge in Gender Mainstreaming and strengthen the integration of gender perspectives in the development planning and budgeting processes of their respective FSPs. Guided by the Gender and Development Specialists from the PCW, the successful conclusion of the regional training underscored the commitment of the Department to mainstream gender development through its initiatives and programs.

 

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Maria Angela A. Ponce encouraged participants to connect with one another and exchange ideas, perspectives, and best practices to achieve gender mainstreamed policies and programs that support the fulfillment of the Department’s mandate. END
