PAINTINGS BY FILIPINO ARTISTS SHOWCASED AT THE “WORLDS OF WONDER” INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION

Kuala Lumpur, 08 September 2024 - The paintings of nine (9) Filipino artists were featured in the “Worlds of Wonder” International Art Exhibition at the Soka Gakkai Malaysia Culture Centre in Ipoh, Perak. The exhibit, which runs from 29 August to 08 September 2024, highlights the diversity and richness of art and promotes cultural exchange and understanding. It features the works of seventy-eight (78) artists from ten countries, including the Philippines. The Filipino artists who participated in the art exhibition are Willa Freah “Bing” Famoso Tac-an, Mylene Quito, Chen Nicolas-Cabangon, Marie Ann Gran-Paredes, Valerie Teng, Kring Dumalag, Isah Rodillo, Karla Sajona, and Allen Sanchez.

One of the artists, Ms. Bing Tac-an, is known for her advocacy for Philippine endemic flora and fauna. She donated an artwork entitled “Agila ng Pilipinas VIII” to the Embassy on 29 August 2024. The acrylic painting, which was created in Kuala Lumpur, measures 3ft x 2ft and depicts the image of the Philippine Eagle and the Philippine coat of arms and is inspired by the Philippine ePassport’s first page.

According to Ms. Bing, her painting of the national eagle aims to raise awareness of Philippine wildlife. This artwork is the eighth Philippine eagle design Ms. Bing has donated to Philippine Foreign Service Posts. She has donated similar artworks to other Philippine Embassies, including those in Hanoi and Singapore.

During the artists’ courtesy visit to the Embassy on 29 August 2024, Consul General Roussel Reyes was joined by Vice Consul Vanessa Orbigo and Kirstoff Gail Ocampo to extend a warm welcome. END
