11 September 2024 – The Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC) delegation, led by its Chairperson, Atty. Abdul Rashid P. Kalim, commenced their benchmarking visit to Malaysia on 9 September 2024.
The BHRC delegation is set to engage with the Human Rights Institution of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) from 9 to 12 September 2024 to strengthen the BHRC’s capacity to safeguard and promote human rights within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Ambassador Maria Angela A. Ponce received the delegation at the Philippine Embassy on 9 September 2024 and expressed her full support for the BHRC’s goal of adopting and implementing approaches tailored to the aspirations of the Bangsamoro people. She also expressed optimism that the knowledge exchange between the BHRC and SUHAKAM will contribute to enhancing the BHRC’s capacity in effectively addressing human rights challenges in their communities.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ponce was accompanied by Minister and Consul General Roussel Reyes, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kara Denise Frayco, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kirstoff Gail Ocampo, Labor Attaché Teresa Lourdes Pimentel, and Police Attaché Col. Excelso Lazaga, Jr. END.
