PHILIPPINE EMBASSY VISITS SEMUJA IMMIGRATION DETENTION DEPOT IN SARAWAK
26 September 2024– As part of the Consular Mission in Kuching, Sarawak, by the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Consul General Roussel R. Reyes traveled to Serian, Sarawak, and paid a courtesy visit to Commandant Hamisah Binti Puteh of the Semuja Immigration Detention Depot on 20 September 2024.
During the visit, both parties discussed consular and immigration matters concerning Filipinos detained at the Depot. Consul General Reyes thanked Commandant Hamisah for ensuring the welfare and eventual repatriation of Filipinos who were detained at the Depot. He also looked forward to strengthening collaboration on these matters.
The Embassy also checked on the status of Filipinos currently detained at the Depot and awaiting repatriation. Dignity kits, courtesy of the Migrant Workers Office in Kuala Lumpur, were provided to the detainees as part of the Embassy's ongoing efforts to ensure their well-being. END
