The showcase was graced by the Honourable YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), underscoring the importance of the event in promoting global halal trade.
The Philippine Pavilion featured 21 exhibitors, presenting a wide array of products, including food and beverages, food supplements and nutraceuticals, health and wellness, and personal care products. These offerings were carefully selected to cater to the growing global demand for halal-certified products, emphasizing the Philippines’ commitment to the halal industry.
“As we participate in MIHAS 2024 and host the Philippine Halal Business Forum, we are proud to highlight the Philippines’ growing contributions to the global halal economy. These events provide key opportunities to strengthen trade relations, especially with Malaysia, and promote our Halal Friendly Philippines brand to a wider international audience. By showcasing high-quality Philippine halal products and attracting strategic investments, we aim to foster economic growth and position the Philippines as a leading destination for halal trade and tourism. Through continued collaboration with Malaysia and other global partners, we are committed to unlocking new economic potential and solidifying the Philippines’ role as a significant player in the rapidly expanding halal market.” said Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Maria Angela A. Ponce.
This year, the DTI Halal Industry Development Program Management Office and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), are spearheading the Philippine participation, with the support of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center- Kuala Lumpur and the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia.
The participation of the Philippines in MIHAS 2024 is part of the government’s broader strategy to support Filipino businesses in exploring new markets, fostering partnerships, and promoting halal trade and investments. The DTI Halal Development Trade Office and its partners continue to work toward enhancing the visibility and market reach of Philippine halal products and services worldwide. END
