05 October 2024 – Ambassador Maria Angela Ponce paid a courtesy call on YB Datuk Dr. Haji Hazland Bin Abg Haji Hipni, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESTY) on 20 September 2024. The meeting focused on possible areas of collaboration between the Philippines and Sarawak given Sarawak’s extensive experience and expertise on sustainable energy practices.

Ambassador Ponce emphasized the Philippines' commitment to renewable energy, which is a key priority under President Marcos’ administration. She noted recent developments in the Philippines, including the full opening of the renewable energy sector to foreign ownership, aimed at attracting international investment.

Both sides recognized the significant potential for collaboration in the renewable energy sector, paving the way for innovative partnerships that could drive sustainable development in the region. END.
