9 October 2024 – Ambassador Maria Angela Ponce visited the Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching, Sarawak, on 21 September 2024 as part of the Embassy’s efforts to promote cultural exchange and appreciation.
Ambassador Ponce was warmly welcomed by Ms. Yasmin Khalid Nicholls, Head of the Museum Services Division, who provided an insightful guided tour of the museum’s diverse exhibits. Ambassador Ponce expressed appreciation for the artifacts and traditions showcased in the displays, as they were preserved and showcased with great care. The visit also explored the potential for collaborative activities in view of the interconnected heritage between the Philippines and Malaysia.
Borneo Cultures Museum is Malaysia’s largest museum and the second largest in Southeast Asia. It features Sarawak’s vibrant cultural heritage and highlights the unique biodiversity of Borneo.
Ambassador Ponce was accompanied by Consul General Roussel Reyes and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kara Denise Frayco during the visit. END.
