The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur joins our nation in the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) which runs from 25 November to 12 December 2024. Through this annual campaign, the Philippines reaffirms its commitment and dedication to stopping all forms of violence against women— physical, emotional, sexual, and financial.
The recurring campaign theme for 2022-2027 is "UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines," with the 2024 sub-theme, "VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!" emphasizing the urgent need for action. This aligns with the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Anti-VAWC Act of 2004 (RA 9262).
This year’s campaign focuses on raising public awareness about the various forms and impact of VAW, while encouraging safe and effective interventions in preventing and addressing VAW. It calls for collaboration among individuals, communities, and the government to create a comprehensive approach to addressing VAW, with a strong focus on prevention.Additionally, the campaign aims to empower survivors by disseminating information on available support services and resources, fostering a society that encourages survivors to seek justice and rebuild their lives.
The Embassy invites our kababayans to take part in the online campaign by sharing personal stories and ideas on how to help create a VAW-free community, using the hashtags #VowToEndVAW and #VAWfreePH.
