EMBASSY CALLS ON LANGKAWI MUNICIPAL COUNCIL TOURISM CITY PRESIDENT, MR. MOHD HAMRI BIN ABIDIN

23 December 2024 - The Embassy, led by Ambassador Maria Angela Ponce, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Mohd. Hamri Bin Abidin, the President of Langkawi Municipal Council Tourism City, on 19 December 2024.

The meeting focused on preparations for upcoming ASEAN events, highlighting the need for smooth coordination, readiness, and enhanced collaboration. As the Philippines will be the ASEAN Chair in 2026, the meeting sought to gain valuable insights from Malaysia's experience in hosting international events. Furthermore, discussions also touched on the presence of Filipinos in Langkawi, many of whom contribute actively to the local community, highlighting the importance of further strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

The Embassy expressed its gratitude for Mr. Hamri’s hospitality and looks forward to enhancing ties with Langkawi officials to support the success of ASEAN activities. END
