12 January 2025 - Filipino artists Roan Alvarez, Rhaz Oriente, and Orland Espinosa are featured in the Maybank Foundation Artist Fellowship Program (MFAFP) Exhibit 2024. The exhibit, which has the theme “Form Before Fusion,” is at the Balai Seni Maybank, Menara Maybank, Kuala Lumpur, and will be open to the public from 08 to 24 January 2025.

Philippine Ambassador Maria Angela Ponce, Consul General Roussel Reyes, along with Cultural Officer Micha Carolino and Attaché Aina Abrencillo, visited the exhibit and opening ceremony, underscoring the Embassy's commitment to promoting Filipino art and culture in Malaysia.

Roan Alvarez, an alumna of the University of the Philippines Diliman, is a visual artist who specializes in interactive transmedia and intermedia. She is known for creating engaging works that explore the complex relationship between humans and technology. Rhaz Oriente, a Fine Arts graduate from Far Eastern University, is a multidisciplinary artist recognized for her contemporary pieces. Orland Espinosa, a printmaker, sculptor, and visual artist, creates thought-provoking works that encourage both creativity and reflection.

The exhibit also features emerging artists from Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, celebrating the rich diversity and creativity of ASEAN and promoting regional unity through the arts.

Part of Maybank Foundation’s Balai Seni Art Series (BSAS) initiative, the MFAFP aims to nurture emerging artists and provide a platform for them to exhibit their work. This exhibit highlights the diverse cultural narratives within ASEAN and represents a shared aspiration for a dynamic and thriving regional arts ecosystem.END
