PHILIPPINE PAVILION OPENS AT THE ASEAN TRAVEL EXCHANGE 2025
Johor Bahru, 18 January 2025 – The Philippine Pavilion at the ASEAN Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) 2025 officially opened on 15 January 2025 at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre. The opening ceremony was graced by Tourism Promotions Board Philippines Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles, Department of Tourism Undersecretary and National Tourist Organisation Head Verna Esmeralda C. Buensuceso and Consul General Roussel Reyes of the Philippine Embassy.
In his welcome message, Consul General Reyes emphasized that the Philippine Pavilion was a celebration of Filipino heritage and ASEAN unity. He noted that the vibrant weave designs showcased the country’s rich culture and craftsmanship and symbolized regional diversity and shared aspirations within the ASEAN community for a united, brighter future. Consul General Reyes also reaffirmed the Philippines’ steadfast support for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairship in 2025, emphasizing a shared vision of advancing regional tourism collaboration and development.
The creation of the Philippine Pavilion was spearheaded by the Tourism Promotions Board Philippines and features a strong contingent of exhibitors, including 9 hotels and resorts, 5 travel and tour agencies, 2 MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) venues, and 1 airline.
The TRAVEX, a three-day event which ran until 17 January 2025, is an integral component of the ASEAN Tourism Forum, gathering key players from the ASEAN tourism industry to promote regional destinations, foster business connections, and drive sustainable tourism growth across the region. END
