PHILIPPINE EMBASSY ATTENDS THE ASEAN YOUTH ECONOMIC FORUM 2025

Kuala Lumpur, 18 February 2025 – The Philippine Embassy attended the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Youth Economic Forum (AYEF) 2025 on 14 February 2025 at the Swiss Garden Hotel. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Chief of Mission Karimata Atsushi of the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia; YB Senator Dr. Lingeshwaran Dato Seri Arunasalam, Senator, Parliament of Malaysia; Mr. Fujioka Ryosuke, Chief Representative of the AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC); and Ms. Sarah Rauzana, Chairperson of the ASEAN Youth Organization.

Ms. Clarissa Villamor, Economic Officer, represented the Embassy at the AYEF 2025 Opening Ceremony. She also met the three (3) delegates from the Philippines who champion climate change and green economic goals with a focus on education: Mr. Leunell Chris Buela from the University of the Philippines Los Banos, Ms. Lara Salaysay of Green Economy Ready, and Ms. Felix Veroya of Ask Lex PH Academy.

AYEF 2025 is a platform for youth leaders in the ASEAN Region and Japan to participate in high-level panel discussions, policy workshops, and site visits. This year’s theme is “Climate Change and Building a Climate Resilient Economy”, allowing delegates to focus on climate resilience and policies, green technology, and sustainable infrastructure. END
