DFA-OFFICE OF PROTOCOL CONDUCTS TRAINING FOR EMBASSY PERSONNEL
Kuala Lumpur, 25 February 2025 - The Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of Protocol (DFA-OP), led by Assistant Secretary and Chief of Protocol Ariel Rodelas Peñaranda, conducted a Training on Basic Diplomatic and Government Protocol for Embassy personnel on 22-23 February 2025 in Sentro Rizal, Kuala Lumpur.
Assistant Secretary Peñaranda provided an overview of diplomatic and government protocol, and facilitated discussions on order of precedence, flag protocol, port courtesies, bilateral meetings, and courtesy calls, among other topics.
Participants also gained practical insights on ceremonial and social activities, ASEAN protocol, events and conference management, and DFA-OP’s best practices, through simulation exercises conducted by DFA-OP Assistant Director O’Myr Faisal Mustafa C. Abdalla and Protocol Officer Jose Paolo Miguel M. Festejo.
In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Maria Angela A. Ponce highlighted the significance of protocol to the maintenance of goodwill between the Embassy and its stakeholders. She further emphasized the benefit of a strong knowledge of protocol to the conduct of Embassy activities under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairship.
The Training was organized as part of the Embassy’s continuing effort to enhance its personnel’s skills and readiness to deliver its services to stakeholders. END.
