AMBASSADOR PONCE MEETS WITH TENGKU AMIR SHAH, RAJA MUDA OF SELANGOR

Shah Alam Selangor, 07 March 2025 - Ambassador Maria Angela Ponce met with Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the Crown Prince of Selangor, on 04 March 2025, at the Setiausaha Kerajaan (SUK) Selangor Office in Shah Alam.

They discussed strengthening people-to-people relations through sports, particularly in football. As President of the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) and Chairman of the Selangor Football Club (SFC), HRH Tengku Amir Shah shared his insights on developing a football team and building the ecosystem, including the fanbase, around it. The Ambassador also noted that Selangor Red Giants, the e-sports arm of the SFC, has several Filipino players and has a Filipino coach.

The Ambassador also conveyed to the Crown Prince, who is Royal Patron of Invest Selangor, the Philippines’ active participation in the annual Selangor International Business Summit through the Department of Trade and Industry. She said that this participation will continue to strengthen the economic ties between the Philippines and Selangor.

They also addressed opportunities for collaboration under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairship, in such issues such as climate change and disaster management.

Ambassador Ponce was joined by Second Secretary Arturo A. Lee, Jr. from the Embassy and Dato Jeff S. Medina, Chairman and CEO of the Citadel Group, a leading global financial services firm in Malaysia. HRH Tengku Amir Shah was joined by Faruk Fadzil, General Manager of SFC and Aladdin Mostafa, Chief Operations Officer of SFC. END
