DFA UNDERSECRETARY LAZARO LEADS PHILIPPINE DELEGATION TO ASEAN SENIOR OFFICIALS’ MEETING IN KUALA LUMPUR

03 May 2025 – Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro led the Philippine delegation to the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) that was held on 28-29 April 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The high-level meeting brought together senior officials from ASEAN Member States to advance discussions on regional community-building efforts and ASEAN’s engagement with external partners.

In addition to the SOM, the senior officials also deliberated on the implementation of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ) Treaty and the progress of Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN. END.
